    Tynan Celtic Cross dating from 700-900
    Father and Son of Tynan,s longstanding noble family. Sir Norman Strong and son, see The Troubles in Tynan.

    Is there any writing on the memorial? Where is Tynan on the map?

    Hello Pat
    There is no writing on the memorial. a very old Celtic Cross.
    Tynan is 6 miles from Armagh close to Monaghan border also Co Tyrone.
    A small village very well preserved.

    spent a few hours in tynan

    Willie
    served 1972 - 1985 with the Regiment then transferred to MPSC in Colchester

    Just to let you know that Ive got a photo of myself patroling in the grounds of Tynan Abbey during the 85/86 tour.
