    Sixth Battalion

    Hello,
New to the forum. Currently investigating Father's military service in the Black Watch and hope there are members who can assist.
He was on active duty from 1944 to 1946 and served in the Sixth Battalion.
His military information is sketchy but I'm gradually putting it together --- but there are a lot of pieces.
I'd like to find out more about the Sixth Battalion and where they traveled and were stationed between 44 and 46. Greece and Italy I think but would love to read something substantial about the Battalion in these years.
Can anyone suggest a good internet link to try or database to explore?
I'm not sure where to look.
    Appreciate any assistance.

    Glen

Try "The Black Watch and the King's Enemies" by Bernard Ferguson.

Chapter 1 has 7 or 8 pages on the 6th Bn in Flanders 39-40.

Chapter 4 is all about the 6th between 43 and 45

    Hi Chalky,
Many thanks for your wonderful reply. I really appreciate the chapter and page references.
I'm in Australia but fortunately, I've located a copy of this book at our big State Library.
Plan to go in there soon to take some notes.
Thanks again. Couldn't have done this without your help.

Big Thanks for those PDF files Chalky. Downloaded them fine and will share them with family members. It's a great read. Very detailed. Helpful maps and detail.
With all the material out there on the internet, the best and most thorough information is in a book from 1950. Once again. big thanks.
