Book Week Scotland: Puppet Making with Sylvia Troon

Join us for storytelling and puppet making during Book Week Scotland, a week-long celebration of books and reading. Storyteller Sylvia Troon will help you to create a colourful, character puppet to use in your own amazing stories.

Winter Festival at the Castle

Get into the festive spirit with our fun filled day of Christmas activity. Join us to switch on The Black Watch Christmas lights and listen to the beautiful sounds of Christmas Carols. Experience storytelling in our First World War trench then explore the galleries with Santa. Get creative with Christmas crafts, decorate your very own Christmas tree cookie and so much more.

Museum Explorers: Christmas in the Trenches
Saturday 9th December | 1.30pm-4.00pm
Learn about the Christmas Truce of 1914 and re-enact the iconic football match which took place between British and German soldiers. Once the final whistle has blown we will create our own Princess Mary Gift Tin as a present for our loved ones.

Winter Wreath Workshops
Sunday 10th December | 10.00am-12.00pm | 1.00pm-3.00pm
Make your own Festive willow wreath under the skilful guidance of local artist June McEwan. Weave a willow frame and use a range of decorative materials to personalise your creation. A hot drink and a delicious home baked mince pie will complete this seasonal event.
Tools, willow and a small variety of decorative materials will be provided. Please bring along your own materials to individualise your creation such as pine cones, ribbons, berries etc.

Carols at the Castle
