Helped needed from Ron
Hi Ron,
Someone posted this image on Facebook and asked for who and where.
One person said that it was our Canadian Brothers during their Kape Tour in 1955.
I disagreed as the RHC P&D itinerary didn't have them in any Nissan Hut Camps.
My thoughts were the 6th/7th at Cultybraggan prior to Remembrance Parade in Crieff in 1956.
What are you thoughts please.

Hi Chalky,
Its not RHC as the pipe bags are not Stewart tartan. There seems to be 16 pipers, did the 6/7th have so many?
Definitely looks to be 1950s, look more like regulars to me. What about Crail Camp were there nissan huts there.
1st Bn spent 9 months there in 1955, 2nd Bn 1 month there in 1954.
Ron.

At least 3 pipers in the back two rows are wearing glengarries. Would the regular battalions have been unable to equip all pipers with feather bonnets in the 1950s? This was during the National Service years when pipers were plentiful.

Ron, looks too hilly for Crail, could be Cultybraggan. Bill...

Many thanks guys. I think it is Cultybraggan.
I don't know if Crail had Nissan Huts.

I found an image of Crail on The Joint Services School for Linguists site.

It was also known as camp 21 built in 1941 to house category A German POWs, mainly SS and other dangerous types from the Luftwaffe and submarine service. It then became an army training camp and I remember it well from over 50 years ago. Worth a look on Wikipedia. Bill...
