Pipe Major John Kent, Black Watch
On 26 July 1952 the Fifeshire Advertiser reported that the Burntisland & District Pipe Band had a new Pipe Major: John Kent, who was a former Pipe Major in the Black Watch.
I would like to know when (year from-to) he was a Pipe Major in the Regiment and which Battalion(s).
Can someone help me? Thanks.

Hi Aad,
Wiki has a list of the Pipe Majors and John Kent is not one of them.
The page says from 1949 - 1960 it was Pipe Major Jock Smith.
I looked through the Red Hackle magazines from 1930 to 1956 minus WW2 years and there is a Pipe Major Smith mentioned with the earliest being 1932 and the last being 1937. This was the 2nd Battalion.
The January 1938 Edition mentions that the P/M is R Roy

Chalky,
That is correct: I have on my list for the 2nd Bn Charles H. Smith 1931-1937 then Robert Roy 1937-1941 and again 1941-1943.
I am interested in seeing that wiki page with a list of the Pipe Majors but can not find it; could you give me the link?
John Kent has probably been a P/M in the T.A.
Thanks
Aad

Hi Aad,
The Wiki page I referred to was on the Burntisland and District Pipe Band
I saw someone asking about PM Smith on the Bob Dunsire forum. I am not a member so could you pass this on.
Not good quality as it is reproduced from the 1933 Red Hackle.
