    Sgt Thomas Oliver MM (Kirkcaldy)

This is my first post on the forum ,and having read the posts on this site with the knowledge base available I hope that someone can assist in finding a photograph of the above named Soldier. His details and brief history of his World War Two service is as follows.

He was awarded the Military Medal , 39/45 Star, Africa Star ,Bar 8th Army, Italy Star, France and Germany Star War and Defence Medals with Mentioned in Despatches Oakleaf he was in the 1st Battalion The Royal Highlanders. The MM was for the Battle of the Reichswald and his MID was for the fighting around Caen.

Prior to the War he worked in the co-op dairy at Dysart.

After the war he lived at Masserine Road Kirkcaldy.

If anyone can help locating a photo please advise me. I have tried newspapers etc .
    Thanks for reading this

No takers on this question. Maybe someone from Kirkcaldy who might have knowledge of local papers from 1945 could help.i have some almanacs from fife from WW1 and WW2 but none that go to 1945. If anyone needs a lookup in the almanacs. please ask .they are from the east coast chronicle

    Hi nemesis,

I apologise that your post was not replied to. I missed it myself.

Finding a photo will be difficult, however, you would think one would exists because of the MM and MiD.

Hopefully Bob Scott will pick this up as he lives in Fife.

In the meantime have you tried:

Thanks Chalky. I have found two newspaper articles but no photo of him. The MM was hard earned in World War Two so I would think something must exist
    Thanks

Further to the background of Thomas Oliver I now know that On the 12th of February 1937 he married Nellie Duncan, also a dairy worker , they had a Son, named Thomas who was born on the 17th of July 1937. The family resided at 54 St Clair Street Kirkcaldy, Fife.
Like many wartime marriages his ended in Divorce on 20th May 1944.
