    Ron,

    There is a thread over on the Great War Forum entitled Highland officer unit and date? that you may be interested in. The posted photo appears to be that of a 5th Regiment Royal Scots of Canada officer circa 1903-1913. There is an open issue concerning the pictured collar badge. I hope you would wish to weigh in.

    Hi John, can't tell what size it is. It might be the strap end of a pipers baldric as the motto reads upside down.

    Hi Ron,
    Very interesting. It measures a little over 3 inches or 7.78 cm. Any thoughts as to the origin, Brithish or possibly Canadian?

    Here is a picture of Pipe Major Manson 1904.
    His belt is 3 inches wide the strap end looks a bit fancier, but then he is the P.M.
    Have you got the piece or is it in a museum?

    In this close up the strap end looks more like a thistle?
