    The Black Watch Castle and Museum winter lecture series 2011-2012

    Thursday 29th September 2011 at 7pm - Perth Museum & Art Gallery

    Keynote Lecture: The Commonwealth War Graves Commission Past and Present

    Lieutenant General Sir Alistair Irwin, Chairman of the Museum Trust and President of the Friends, will give a Keynote lecture on The Commonwealth War Graves Commission: Past and Present.

    The evening will begin at 7pm with a wine reception and canapés. The lecture will commence at
    7.30pm.
    Tickets for the keynote lecture are £15 (£5.00 for Friends) this includes glass of wine and canapés. Places are limited, so please book to avoid disappointment.

    Paintings at Balhousie

    Museum staff will talk about the Museum’s collection of paintings and the artists who created them. Featured artists will include WB Wollen, Angelica Kauffman, Joshua Reynolds, William Skeoch Cumming, Robert Gibb and Louis William Desanges.

    Surrender at St Valery, 1940

    Ruari Halford-MacLeod will talk about the surrender of the 51st Highland Division at St Valery on
    12th June 1940.
    The talk will make reference to reminiscences from veterans who served with The Black Watch and
    51HD.

    Tuesday 13th December 2011 at 1.30pm - The Black Watch Museum

    Fontenoy and The Black Watch

    Brigadier Charles Grant will talk about the Battle of Fontenoy on 11th May 1745 and the involvement of The Black Watch in this major engagement of the War of the Austrian Succession.

    Tuesday 10th January 2012 at 1.30pm - The Black Watch Museum

    Brown Bess to bolt action

    Major Ronnie Proctor will talk about firearms used by The Black Watch, from the Brown Bess musket to the introduction of bolt action rifles.

    Tuesday 14th February 2012 at 1.30pm - The Black Watch Museum

    Bolt action to present day

    Major Ronnie Proctor will talk about firearms used by The Black Watch, from the introduction of bolt action rifles to the present day.

    Tuesday 13th March 2012 at 7pm - The Black Watch Museum

    Breaking the Siegfried Line: the Battle for Goch, 1945

    In a lecture titled Breaking the Siegfried Line, Ruari Halford-MacLeod will talk about the Battle for
    Goch in February 1945.
    The talk will make reference to reminiscences from veterans who served with The Black Watch. Tickets for the Winter Lecture Series at The Black Watch Museum are £5 (£3 for children / £1.50 for Friends) and this includes refreshments.
