Wee Davie Grant , now there's a name from the past . I remember him taking over from Dennis Giles as Tara. A great wee man .

    Hi Ron,

I believe it was only the 6th Battalion that wore the lanyard.

Unless, of course this is an adhoc uniform supplied by the photographer.

Chalky, its strange that I come across more 6th Bn postcards and photos than any other Bn.
Here's another of a Sgt dated 1915 on the reverse. Marks on the photo are where someone has left a glass ink bottle on it.

Ron, I think the one on the right is an Argyle and Sutherland Highlander as he has a diced Glengarry and a large cap badge similar to an Argyle, difficult to tell about the Black Watch soldiers. Bill..

    Hi Ron,

I agree with Bill about the Argyll.

The Photographic Studio at 156 Nethergate, Dundee was owned by Valentine and Sons.

Thanks Bill & Chalky, the A&SH holds the record for the largest badge worn by the British.

Chalky, sorry about the spelling of Argyll, and Ron, we used to refer to it as the shiny mess tin as it was so big. Bill...
