Ron,
Just noticed this photo. Could this also have been the 2nd Bn in Egypt 1919? See photo below. Seems to me your photo is more likely the 2nd Bn either 1916 or 1919 as they are seen wearing Blue Bonnets in the Middle East throughout the Great War. If it was the 1st Bn on their way through to India in 1919, they probably would have had khaki Tam O'Shanters rather than the blue Balmorals seen in your photo.
