2nd Admin Bn Forfar or Angus rifle volunteers.
ORs die-struck WM example. Thistle star bearing inscription "In Defence" with crest of Scotland in centre.
Always described as a shako plate, but I think more commonly worn on the glengarry.
Have previously posted a Sgts S/P version of this badge which is 1mm larger than this example.

Small brass mufti badge, die-struck with traces of a gilt wash. Convex shape with a single long loop possibly for wear in the buttonhole.
Victorian crown probably Boer War period.

42nd officers silver levee dress plaid brooch circa 1850s, bearing a thistle makers mark. A 62mm quoit surmounted by an emerging St. Andrew wearing a sunburst behind head, below the Sphinx battle honour. The whole engraved with a repeating pattern of thistles. The reverse bears a thistle stamp flanked by two I or J letters which is not an official hallmark although the quoit does appear to be silver. There was a Dundee silversmith Ian Johnson who signed his work I I but I have not been able to confirm his dates, the style of the engraving seems to suggest a date 1850/60. At a later stage in its life the brooch has been mounted with a silver circlet of 38mm diameter. There are remaims of an edge incription that reads DECUS ET TUTATUM ANNO REGNI LX. which means it was made from a hollowed out 1897 diamond jubilee crown. Perhaps this held a memento of a loved one, a photo or lock of hair which has since been removed from the brooch, see evidence of prise marks below the thistle mark.

1930s sterling silver tie pin mounted with a silver, enamel and marcasite badge.
Rhodium plating of jewellery began in 1932 but its use was banned during WW2 as it was classed as a strategic metal.

Small tombstone shaped arm badge removed from uniform 2.5" x 3".
Unsure of usage, WW2 or 1950s?

If you turn it 180 then it looks like a badge on a shield shape
